Auditions for CS Community Players fall production

Aug. 21,22: Auditions for the Cedar Springs Community Player’s fall production “What is Susan’s Secret?” will be held on August 21st and 22nd at the Cedar Springs United Methodist Church from 6 to 7:30 pm. Needed are 7 male and 7 female actors and actresses ages 20 – 75. Rehearsals are every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 to  9 pm. We also need volunteers to work backstage, build and paint the set, run the lights and sound. Lots of fun for everyone! Performance dates are October 17 – 19 at the historic Kent Theatre in downtown Cedar Springs. If you’re interested but unable   to attend auditions or have questions, call Laura B. at 616-901-1646. 2014 Red Flannel Festival Planning

Aug. 26: Visionaries and historians needed! If you are creative, the Red Flannel Festival needs you! Please join us at the Festival building at 21 E. Maple Street on Monday, Aug. 26 at 7 pm for meeting to plan the 2014 Festival! It’s our 75th Diamond Anniversary and we are beginning the planning today! Pastie lunch at Trufant Community Center

Aug. 22: Every Thursday from August 22 to mid September a pastie lunch will be served from 9:30 am to 1 pm at the Trufant Community Center (DBS Hall). Hot original Cornish Pastie, homemade coleslaw & drink for $6 or just a pastie for $4.50. All proceeds go toward a new roof on the Trufant Masons & Eastern Stars Lodge building. Flea market is on Thursday also. #34

 

Free Popcorn & Movie at Victory Baptist

Aug. 23: “How Big Is God?” Join Victory Baptist Church on Friday, August 23 for a free popcorn and a movie event as Louie Giglio examines a scientific look at God in every part of the universe. Doors open at 6:30 pm, movie starts at 7 pm. The church is located at 16415 Meddler Ave., Sand Lake – just two miles north of Tow’s Country Store. Senior Lunch

Aug. 28: Ma’s been yodeling back n forth with the cousins from the Alps country. They’ve convinced her to serve up a big batch of their favorite Swiss Steak. Now I didn’t hear the entire chorus so for the rest of the menu…. Well ya’ll age 60 and older, stop on by The Senior Cafe in our Family Life Center at Noon, Wednesday the 28th of August. The final yodel ringing through the hills echoes M-82 and Beech, you’ll find a seat. #34

 

Herbs and Flowers of Early America

Aug. 28: Advanced Master Gardner Connie Hanson will share her insight about plants and land use in colonial America. Wednesday, August 28 at 7 pm at the Greenville Community Center, 900 E. Kent Rd., Greenville. Sponsored by the Greenville Garden Club. Open the the public. #34

 

2nd Chance Golf Tournament

Sept. 28: The 1st annual 2nd Chance Golf Tournament will be held on September 2th at Cedar Chase Gold Course, 7551 – 17 Mile Rd., Cedar Springs. This is a 4 person scramble with a shotgun start at 10 am with hot dogs at the turn and a dinner immediately following play. There will be raffles, door prizes, and other challenges. $75 per person. Proceeds will benefit 2nd Chance, a faith based school, whose mission is to offer a leaning experience in an agricultural setting for troubled teens who will be sent to the school through the court systems and is funded by grants and donations. Wheelin’ for a Cure

Sept. 14: On September 14th Two Trackers 4WD Club will be hosting a fund raiser event for Special Days Camp. Special Days is a camp for children with cancer. There will be a full day of activities, including a Virtual Scavenger Hunt route through the Allegan State Forest, breakfast, lunch, games, door prizes, raffles, and snacks. Everyone is invited. A vehicle capable of traveling state forest roads is suggested. Registration is $20 for adult driver, $10 for adult passengers, $5 for children 6-18, children 5 and under are free. Online pre-registration is available until August 28th  at twotrackerswheelinforacure.eventbright.com and includes a free T-shirt for the driver.
