A Cedar Springs man was arrested last month on drug charges after being pulled over for drunk driving.
According to Cedar Springs Police Chief Roger Parent, Officer Paul Feutz stopped a vehicle in Cedar Springs and arrested the driver, Guiliano Carlos-Lobaton, of Cedar Springs, for OWI (operating while intoxicated). He was questioned about a folded dollar bill being hidden under the seat of the police cruiser. Guiliano eventually admitted to police that the dollar bill was his and the powder inside the folded dollar bill was cocaine. State Police Laboratory tests later confirmed this.
Once the State Police Lab results were obtained a new felony drug charge was added. On July 18, a felony warrant was approved by the Prosecutor’s Office. Guiliano was arraigned recently while in court on another case. His preliminary exam date was set for August 7 at 3 p.m.
“Having a felony drug charge issued for Guiliano Carlos-Lobaton was good news to the Cedar Springs Police Department,” said Parent. “We often receive tips from citizens telling us about someone who is dealing drugs. Carlos-Lobaton’s name has been reported to the police department in the past.”
Parent said that Guiliano told the arresting officer he had the cocaine for personal use.
