Kids reel them in at fishing derby

The Land of Lakes Association gave kids  a fun outing on Sunday, June 9, when they held their fourth annual kids fishing derby during the state’s free fishing weekend.

Spokesman Mike Nienhuis said there were about 10 kids ages 3 to 12 that took part in the derby. The event was just for fun, so no awards were given, but they all got some type of prize, including tackle boxes, and gift certificates to local restaurants. The kids also got free lunch that included hot dogs, chips, pop and a dessert.

Nienhuis said the majority of fish caught included bass, bluegill and rock bass.

My nephew is in that picture with the bass and his name is not correct. I was wondering if you could resubmit his picture with the correct name since he was really proud of it and was bummed when they put the incorrect name. His name is spelled Blayze Ludtke. Thanks so much.

I think we can do that, Cami. That is the way it was given to us, but we’ll run a correction.
