If  you attended Sand Lake Schools, you won’t want to miss this 121st Sand Lake Alumni Banquet, to be held this Saturday, June 8, at the Resurrection Life Church in Sand Lake at 5 p.m.

One speaker will be Lauren Frey, class of 1937, who will speak on how the school bus changed rural education.” Sand Lake Schools purchased its first bus in 1936. It was featured in the 1937 yearbook, with the caption: “We are very fortunate in having a school bus, giving the country students an opportunity to obtain a better education. Mr. Sawrey was driver during the first semester, Mr. Moots during the second.”

Also speaking at the alumni banquet will be Rev. Verta (Kibbie) Giddings, class of 1943, sharing memories of classmates who joined the war effort of World War II. Hitler declared “Total War” on January 13 of their senior year.
