Hometown Hero

-N-Hometown-Hero-Empie-BrandonAir Force Airman Brandon M. Empie graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, on November 9, 2012.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Empie is the son of Jenifer and Aaron Smigiel of Howard City. Proud grandparents are Russel and Pat Merlington, and Don and Lucille Empie, all of Cedar Springs.

Airman Empie is a 2012 graduate of Tri County High School. He is currently in Texas, at Lackland Air Force Base, completing his tech schooling for security forces. After he graduates in March, Airman Empie will be deployed overseas.
