Flash mob spreads holiday cheer

-N-FlashmobShoppers who made a run to the Cedar Springs Meijer just before noon on December 22 were met with a holiday surprise. At about 11:58, several shoppers met in the deli area and appeared to be shopping normally. But, at noon, hats were put on, the music began, and coats were removed exposing Christmas outfits. Local Zumba instructors Gwen Gould and Monica Sanders led a dance with several of their students to Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas is You.” The crowd gathered to watch as news of the performance spread and loud applause was heard when the performance ended. Gould estimated at least 100 shoppers stopped to watch.

After the dance, Gould, Sanders and their students blended back into the crowd and went back to shopping as if nothing had happened. Gould said Meijer had no clue of the surprise that their shoppers would receive that day.
