Two Cedar Springs Firefighters were given the rank of Lieutenant this week. David Barnes and Brian Jenkins, both firefighters and medical first responders, were promoted Wednesday evening.

Cedar Springs Fire Chief Marty Fraser said that the promotions were based on knowledge, credentials, and seniority.

Barnes has been a member of the Cedar Springs Fire Department since February 1998. He and his wife, Wendi, have two sons, Dylan and Brandon.

Jenkins has been a member of the fire department since August 2001. He and his wife, Heather, have one son, Derek.

Fraser said they are still looking for a Deputy Chief.
