Cedar Springs Mayor Charlie Watson was hit by a car as he attempted to cross Main Street last Wednesday, October 24.
According to Cedar Springs Police Chief Roger Parent, Watson, 48, was walking eastbound on Muskegon Street about 7:40 p.m., and had entered the crosswalk at Main Street, when he was hit in the southbound lane by a pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup, Michael Gottschalk, 38, of Algoma Township, was traveling west on Muskegon then turned south on Main Street at the green light and struck Watson. He was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
Cedar Springs Fire and Rescue responded to the scene, and Watson was transported to the hospital by ambulance. He suffered a fractured fibula.

Although I do not agree with Charlie on Everything. I hope he is ok. Although sometimes things turn out differnt than I would like, I know he in good faith does the best he can for the City. He has been sering the city for a long time. I remember back in the mid 90′s he served on the Fire Department (Voluenteer) with my father. Get well soon Charlie
Praying for a full & speedy recovery!
