Broadway Our Way in Cedar Springs

Cedar Springs native Larry Young Jr. and his company, Creative Edge Productions, will bring their musical “Broadway, Our Way,” to the Cedar Springs High School auditorium on Friday, November 9, at 7 p.m. Enjoy many of your Broadway favorites and contribute toward a new Cedar Springs library at the same time!

For Young, the son of Larry and Audrey Young, of Cedar Springs, acting is in his blood. “I was in every musical every year I was in high school,” said the 1995 graduate, in a previous interview with the Post. During his senior year he played Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, and went on to perform in many other productions, and win several awards.

In January 2009, he and friend Kelly Carey formed Creative Edge Productions. Together they create customized entertainment for corporate and private events. “We put together an entertainment package that fits their needs,” he explained. Broadway our way is one of those events. It is a musical journey through Broadway’s greatest hits, featuring some of Broadway’s most memorable songs from smash-hit shows like: Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Singing in the Rain, Annie Get Your Gun, The King and I, A Chorus Line, and more. It stars Young, Carey, Cici Gramer, and Stephen Grey.

This will be one of the last big fundraisers to get the Library close to the $50,000 matching grant. They are currently at $36,000 and are hoping this program brings them over the top.

There are three ways to help:

1. If people would like to be mentioned in the program as a sponsor, make a donation in any amount by November 1 to get your name listed in the program.

2. Buy your tickets for the show either at the library or at the door. Tickets are $10 for adults ($12 at the door), adults 65-plus and students $5 ($7 at the door), families are $25 ($30 at the door), and children under 5 are free. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Your ticket also includes light refreshments in the cafeteria after the show.

3. Prior to the show, there will be a candlelight family style Tuscan Harvest dinner sponsored by the Women’s Club 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Cedarfield Clubhouse, on 17 Mile, just west of Meijer. Seating is limited to 55 people, and tickets must be purchased at the library by November 1. The cost for the dinner is $15.

They will also be holding a Facebook online silent auction. Go to the search and type in Cedar Springs Public Library Silent Auction.
