JV football loses to West Catholic

The JV team lost a tough fought game with West Catholic last Thursday, October 11, by a score of 12-6. The

Falcons of West Catholic took a 6-0 lead early in the first half. The Red Hawks didn’t allow another touchdown in the half, but struggled to get the offense going and went in to the locker room trailing 6-0 at the half.

The second half started with Cedar kicking off to West Catholic. The Red Hawk defense flexed its muscles and forced the ball back from the Falcons. Cedar was then able to get the offense moving a little and Zach Wamser scored in the 3rd to make it a 6-6 tie. The remainder of the 2nd half was once again a back and forth defensive battle. However, the Falcons were able to break through the Red Hawk defense and score the go ahead touchdown early in the fourth quarter.

Cedar got the ball back but again struggled to put much offense together. Forced to go for it on 4th and long the Red Hawks came up just inches short of continuing their game tying drive. The Falcons took over on downs and ran out the clock, securing the win.

“We struggled to pick up crucial 3rd and 4th down plays tonight and that was the difference in the game. It seemed like we were always one block away from making a big play,” said Coach Bowers.

Cedar wraps up their season Thursday night (tonight) as they host the Huskies of Forest Hills Northern.
