Wayne Price, of Cedar Springs, received a special package last Friday morning from CW3 Timothy Miller. Miller is the pilot who flew his Chinook and crew to Cedar Springs last Veteran’s Day and landed at Skinner Field. He is currently stationed in Afghanistan.

Inside the package was an American flag that had flown on a CH-47D Chinook helicopter combat mission on July 16, 2012, on the 43rd anniversary of the death of Wayne’s brother, 2nd Lt. Jack Price, in South Vietnam.

Jack was killed at the age of 28, while taking a Chinook helicopter on a test flight in South Vietnam. All seven men aboard died.

“The flag is dedicated to the memory of my brother and his fellow Chinook crew members of Flipper 001,” explained Wayne.

Also in the package was a commemorative photo of the dedication of the flag. “I am in deep gratitude to Tim for this unselfish, thoughtful, and treasured gift,” said Wayne.

Jack’s immediate family still lives in the area—his wife Darlene, and children Dawn, Jack Jr. and Jeff.
