Father stops child abduction

Police are looking for a man that attempted to abduct a two-year-old child last week in Tyrone Township.

According to the Kent County Sheriff Department, a father was working in his garage at his home on 17 Mile Road near Division Avenue, while his two-year-old son played in the front yard. The father looked out and saw a man walking away from the house holding his son’s hand. When the father asked him what he was doing, the man kept walking away.

The father went after the man and got his son back and put him in the house. When the father went back outside, the man was gone. He did not immediately report the incident.

The suspect was described as a white male, around 20 years old, with pale skin, and red/blonde curly hair. He was about 6-feet tall, 190 pounds, and was wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt. He should have injuries around his neck and face. He may have had a car parked near the shoulder of 17 Mile and Division.

If anyone has any information, contact the Kent County Sheriff Department or Silent Observer at (616) 774-2345.
