Red Hawk soccer team repels Red Arrows

The sun was shining and the temperature perfect on August 30, as the Red Hawks hosted the Lowell Red Arrows. The first half was a back-and-forth struggle, as both teams fought to put points on the scoreboard. The Red Hawks were first to succeed, when defensive back Aaron Dault ran up field to catch the rebound of a missed shot and fired it back towards the net, past Lowell’s keeper (9:59). Lowell answered minutes later when the ball got away from keeper Josh Champion and rolled right in front of an open Red Arrow player, who tapped it into the net (5:16), tying the score 1 to 1.

Second half play resumed with both teams determined to do whatever it took to secure the win. Tempers flared from both players and fans as play became increasingly intense and physical. The Red Hawk stands cheered when forward Robert Klein blasted a penalty kick past the Red Arrow keeper, giving his team a 2 to 1 advantage (7:17). The Red Arrow offensive unit turned up the intensity even more, but the Cedar defensive unit of Aaron Dault, Dontae Ensley, foreign exchange student Vitor Camillo and Trevor Rose, along with goal keeper, Josh Champion, worked together to maintain their lead.

When the final buzzer sounded, the team and fans celebrated their fourth win of the season, bringing their overall record to 4 and 1.

Congratulations on a great win!
