Freshmen Red Hawks win against Sparta

The freshmen Red Hawk football team were brought up to speed last week, by the high school staff, of what a cross town rivalry Cedar Springs and Sparta have become over the years.

The freshmen boys kicked off their high school rivalry with Sparta in awesome fashion, posting a 12-0 win, and allowing the freshmen coaching staff their first victory over Sparta in three tries. Setting the tone was the strong defensive effort the boys gave, stopping Sparta on many three and outs. While Cedar was able to put some long drives together on offense, including the game clincher, with a nice pass connection from QB Blake Fisher to TE Jacob Cartwright in the fourth quarter, it was the defense that held strong!

As the weeks go on, you can see the freshmen are starting to find some rhythm both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. They traveled to Wayland Thursday, to take on the Wildcats.
