Tree falls on pickup, injures man

A Lakeview man suffered a head injury last Friday, when a large tree branch fell on the pickup he was driving.

According to the Kent County Sheriff Department, the accident occurred on Friday, August 10, about 4:40 p.m., on Lincoln Lake Avenue and 14 Mile in Oakfield Township.
Police said that Nicholas Lober, 57, was northbound on Lincoln Lake Avenue, when a large part of a tree fell and hit his Toyota Tundra pickup. The man was transported to the Greenville Airport by Life EMS so Aeromed could fly him to Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, where he underwent surgery.

Alcohol was not a factor in the accident. Rain may have contributed to causing the tree to come down.

Assisting at the scene was Oakfield Fire Department, Spencer Fire Department, and Grattan Fire Department.
