Help find a cure for a terrible disease and have some fun at the same time by coming out to Payton’s Race for a Cure, a fundraising moto cross event, on Saturday, July 21, at the Grattan Raceway, 7201 Lessiter Road, Belding.
All proceeds will be donated to two organizations in the fight against mitochondrial disease, Mito Action and the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation.
Payton’s Race for a Cure is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support advocacy, awareness and ultimately a cure for Mitochondrial Disease. The disease is a deficiency in the body’s ability to form energy, leaving all other organs and life supporting functions to suffer. Symptoms range in severity from mild to fatal. There is no treatment, no cure and minimal research is being completed due to lack of funding. There is only care, comfort and maintenance for the patient. 1 in 4,000 children will develop a Mitochondrial Disease by the age of 10 years old.
You can help by being part of this family-oriented event motocross event! There will be dirt bike/quad practice for all ages, kids activities, food concessions, raffles, and more!
Riders sign in at 8 a.m. First practice begins at 9:30 a.m. and activities begin at 11. Dirt bikes and quads welcome! $25 per class. First 150 riders to register will receive a rider gift bag along with an event t-shirt. All riders will be entered into the Rider appreciation raffle! This is an organized practice and is open to both youth and adults of all skill levels.
