Brian Tarachanowicz

(Howard City) Brian S. Tarachanowicz, age 38, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2012, after suffering injuries while at work. He was born in Grand Rapids, but his parents moved to Dallastown, Pennsylvania in 1988. Brian was a 1992 graduate of Dallastown High School where he played football and also worked at Mack’s ice cream. He took great pride in driving his first car, a navy blue Mustang. Immediately following high school, he joined the US Army, serving in the infantry. Brian had great respect for those who served their country and was a true patriotic citizen. His children have continued this admiration for all veterans. After the service he moved to this area and met Lisa Callender at Rosa Park Circle; and after dating for 7 years, they were engaged at Rosa Park Circle while ice skating. On July 10, 2004 Lisa and Brian were married at Townsend Park. He worked for VanErden’s Distributing and then for the last 6 ½ years he worked as a construction foreman at Black River Builders. Brian’s greatest joy in life centered on his two children, Ivy Jane and Jax Stone. Whether it was attending his daughter’s 6th birthday party, playing football, cars, or teaching his kids how to fish, Brian always had a “fun” time. His special time was in preparing the children for bed. Brian and Lisa were a team and enjoyed each moment of their time, and most important was their togetherness as a family. They became members at Resurrection Lutheran Church, and his children were baptized on Mother’s day this year. He is survived by his loving wife, the former Lisa Callender; children, Ivy Jane and Jax Stone; parents, Larry and Ronnie Tarachanowicz; brothers, Shawn and Kristi Tarachanowicz, and S/Sgt. Kevin and Tiffany Tarachanowicz with the US Marine Corp; Lisa’s parents, David and Fran Callender and their family, David Callender and fiancee, Brandilyn, Steve and Casey Callender, Amber Callender and Neil Romijn; grandmothers, Mrs. Virginia Zeek, and Mrs. Geraldine Uplinger; and nieces and nephews; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tony and Hendrika Romijn, Alex and Florence Tarachanowicz, Jesse Uplinger, nephew, Carson, and “Big Shooter.” The Service for Brian will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 180 Northland Drive, Sand Lake with Pastor Lee Zabrocki officiating. Military honors will be under the auspices of the US Army with interment in Reynolds Township Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Brian’s memory for his children’s education at 5/3 Bank, 2805 Ten Mile Road, Rockford, MI 49341. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the Pederson Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
