Reading program draws crowd

Post photo by Judy Reed

The Cedar Springs Public Library’s summer reading program, Dream Big…Read! is off to a great start, with over 650 children and adults registered. They had their kickoff on Monday, June 11, with about 600 people attending.

They gave away free ice cream, raffled off a Kindle Touch, handed out free book bags, reading program brochures, and the friends of the library held a book sale. The raffle and the book sale fundraiser brought in $641. Fifteen volunteers helped the library staff with all the extra work needed to make the day run smoothly.

The library has 18 events planned over the six weeks of the reading program. For all the events, check out our Beat the Boredom issue on our website www.cedarspringsost.com, or go to the library’s website at http://cedarsprings.llcoop.org/.
