Green light for city manager

By Judy Reed

Christine Burns

An Ottawa County judge ruled that a petition to dissolve the Village of Spring Lake was invalid and that it will not appear on the August ballot. That means that Cedar Springs City Manager Christine Burns could be the next Village Manager in Spring Lake, if she accepts the job.

“Negotiations are underway,” confirmed Burns. “I should know in the next week or two. But I don’t anticipate any problems in working through them.”

Burns said she has not yet tendered her resignation, but will once things are final. She said she needs to give the city 30 days, and will probably stay until August 1.
