Agnes Patin

Agnes Catherine Patin, age 94, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012. She was the youngest of the 11 Patin children and grew up on the family farm in Sand Lake. Agnes was a 1935 graduate of Sand Lake High School and attended Ferris State University for her teaching certificate. While teaching, she also attended Western Michigan University and received her B.S. degree. Throughout her life, she was a faithful Catholic. She played organ for many years at her parish. She also enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad. Agnes taught elementary school at Ensley Center, Kent City, Croton, and Newaygo. She enjoyed working with her students and found teaching to be a rewarding career. Her family was very important, and she would pray for them daily. Agnes remained in contact through her life with her many friends. She was blessed with a gentle and patient spirit. Agnes is survived by her nephews and nieces, Mrs. LuAnne Murray, David Patin, Tom (Lynne) Patin, Michael (Christine) Patin, Mrs. Sandy Patin and many other loving nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Phillip Patin, August Patin, Brother Angelus Patin, Lucy Patin, Aloysius Patin, Andrew Patin, Jr., Teresa Quillan, Paul Patin, Sister Mary Remiguis Patin, Alphonsus Patin, and her parents, Andrew and Pauline (Rosek) Patin, and nephews, Gregory Patin, and Robert Patin. The Mass of Christian Burial for Agnes Patin was offered on Wednesday, May 30 at Mary Queen of the Apostles in Sand Lake with The Rev. Joseph W. Kenshol presiding. Interment on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Sand Lake. The Franciscan Scripture Service was on Tuesday and the Rosary was prayed at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Relatives and friends met with the family at the Pederson Funeral Home on Tuesday and prior to the Mass at the church on Wednesday.
