Stanley A. Empie

Stanley A. Empie, 82 of Cedar Springs, died Saturday, April 21, 2012 at his home. Stanley was born October 21, 1929 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the son of Lloyd and Mary (Streeter) Empie. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He worked at the General Motors 36th Street Plant for 42 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Newaygo Sportsman’s Club, the Sand Lake VFW and the Cedar Springs American Legion. He loved his family and grandchildren very much. Surviving are his wife, Joyce (Bremmer); daughter, Jomay (Robert) Brand of Sparta; grandchildren, Dana, Katherine (Trent) DePue, Justin and fiancée, Nikki Butler; great grandson, Gavin Valdiviezo; sisters, Vivian Ryan, Betty Bremmer, Bernice (Malcolm) Taylor. The family received friends Tuesday from 2-4 at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs and concluded with military honors at 4:00 pm by the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard. There will be no funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.  Arrangements by Bliss Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs
