Congratulations to Char Lyons, of Sand Lake, the winner of our April Fools contest! Char correctly guessed the two April Fools stories—Dogs must wear hunter orange and City vies for placement in Guinness Book 2012—and the fake display ad—911 Emergency nail repair. Char was chosen at random out of all the correct entries, and won a $20 bill.
A few people thought some of our real news and ads were fake and we want to set that record straight! The Amish Warehouse really is having a fundraiser for the library (see ad on page 18); the Rotary Cow Plop is a real event (see ad this page); you do need a recreation passport permit to park in the staging area at Russell Road; April 1 really was the start of a new fishing season and you need a new license; and Marty Frasier really is the new Cedar Springs Fire Chief (that would be a mean trick to play on him).
Thanks to all of you that entered, and we hope you had fun searching for the fake stories and ad, and finding the little “Easter eggs” we hid along the way, such as the Inside this issue on the front, the masthead (list of staff titles) and Post highlights on page 3, and the fake hometown happening. And, hopefully, the front page being upside down didn’t frustrate you too much!
