There may not be much snow on the ground, but you can still enjoy two fun-filled days of Winterfest in Sand Lake this weekend, February 10 and 11.
Outhouse races: Do you have the fastest outhouse? Enter the race and find out! Entry fee is $10 per team. Adult and children’s teams (6-12 years). Three people on a team—two pushers and one inside outhouse. Outhouses must be made of wood and/or cardboard mounted on two wheels. Trophies for first and second place and most humorous. Registration is on Saturday, at 12:30 with a 1 p.m. start. Race to be held at 5th and Oak Street.
Chili soup r bowl: The Tri County Little League is sponsoring the chili soup r bowl cookoff on Saturday at the VFW. Cooking begins at 8 a.m and there is a $10 entry fee. Trophies awarded to first, second and third place. Please call Amy Blake (616) 636-5347 or Jen Misner (616) 788-8759 to register.
Photography contest: They are accepting entries for best winter photo until Feb. 11 at 5 p.m. at the VFW Hall. Judging from 5 to 6:30, with awards at 7 p.m. for first and second place in each division. Photos to be sold at snow ball. Entry form required and can be found at local businesses or on website.
Other activities include an ice sculpture demonstration, pinewood derby, ice skating, pancake breakfast, ice bowling, frozen fish toss, snow ball, a special visit by Griff, the Grand Rapids Griffins mascot, and more!
