After 81 years of loving her family and her Lord, Eleanor Jean Shick of Stanton left her earthly home for her heavenly home on Saturday, July 2, 2011. Eleanor was born in Wyoming, MI on July 29, 1929 the daughter of Glenn and Sophia (Kuyt) Maxwell. She was married to Robert A. Shick on April 27, 1949 in Sand Lake. He preceded her in death on December 29, 1998. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stanton for many years and is the loving mother of John (Arliss) Shick, Glenn (Kathy) Shick, , Robin (Dave) Somers, Mary (Rex) Billings and Harvey (Cindy) Shick, grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Bob (Ruth) Maxwell, Frank (Judene) Maxwell and sister, Winnie (Don) Van Dyke, her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bernice VerStrate, Arlene Wesche, Beverly (Phil) Wesche, Verna (Dick) Wesche, Donna Reed and Fred (Carol) Shick and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 11 AM at First Baptist Church of Stanton with Rev. Dave Somers officiating. Burial will be in Sand Lake Cemetery, Sand Lake MI. Visitation was Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at Hurst Funeral Home in Greenville MI.
