JV girls softball wins own invitational

Congratulations Cedar Springs JV Girls Softball for a great season with Red Hawk spirit!  This season the team had many canceled and rescheduled games along with many practices in the gym due to the stormy wet spring weather. Even with these obstacles they were able to close their season with a very respectable record of  8-9-1. Throughout the season the girls continued to improve on their skills and build a strong team.

Cedar Springs JV Girls SoftballOn Saturday, May 21, the team had the honor of claiming first place at the 2011 Red Hawk Invitational. Game 1 against East Kentwood ended with a Cedar win of 10 to 4.  Game 2 against Allendale was close, but the Hawks were able to hold on for a 4 to 3 win.   The team had one more game to play. It was a tense game at times against Greenville.  In fact, the Hawks were behind in the 2nd inning, but at the bottom of the 5th they were able to rally back and claim victory with a 17 to 7 win. With great joy and excitement the team accepted this year’s trophy and title. Way to go girls!!

Thanks to all the parents, grandparents and fans who encouraged and supported the team and coaches. It shows what great passion Cedar Springs has for their town, school and kids.
