The Grand Rapids Social Security office is moving to 3045 Knapp St NE, Grand Rapids MI 49525. The new office is located within the Celebration Village retail area and is situated north of the Meijer shopping area along Knapp Street just west of the E Beltline (M37) intersection. It is easily accessible via The Rapid bus route 15.
The office will be open with full services at the new location on Tuesday, May 10.
Business will continue at its current location (50 College Ave., Grand Rapids) through Friday, May 6. Although the office is open on Thursday, May 5, Friday, May 6, and Monday, May 9 at the new location, it is recommend that you try not to conduct any Social Security business with the Grand Rapids office on those days. Because of the shuffling of telephone lines and computers, there will be very limited service available.
Office hours will remain the same, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The general information line will also stay the same, 877-319-5710.
There are many options available to conduct business with Social Security – rarely does anyone need to go into the office.

Another option is the national toll-free number, 1-800-772-1213, which operates 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays. Social Security representatives are available on business days from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. They have access to the same information that’s available at the local office.
