Ruth M. Patin, 86 of Sand Lake, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2011 at her home. Ruth was born March 9, 1925 in Grand Rapids, MI the daughter of Peter and Helen (Schweikert) Horter. She was a member of St. Mary’s Altar Society and Mary Queen of Apostle Church in Sand Lake. She had retired from Cedar Springs Public Schools as a cook in 1985. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph in 2010 after 64 years of marriage. Surviving are her children, Donald (Maureen) Patin, James (Sandy) Patin, Catherine Patin, Marie Patin, Mark Patin, Patricia Patin, Gerri (Ralph) VanOcker, RoseAnn Patin; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Arlene Heemstra; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded by a granddaughter, Brenda Lynn VanOcker; sister, Helen Zlotkowski; brother, Robert Horter. The family received friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, www.blisswitterspike.com where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 11:00 am at Mary Queen of Apostle Church, Sand Lake. Rev. Fr. Joseph W. Kenshol celebrant. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sand Lake.
