Fire Department visits Cedar Trails

The Cedar Springs Fire Department visited Cedar Trails Kindergarten Classes on Friday, October 15, 2010 for lessons in fire safety and fire truck equipment. They displayed different types of hoses, hose nozzles, axes and much more. The firemen described to the students various pieces of equipment that would be used in the case of a fire or a serious situation such as a car accident. Students had the chance to climb inside the fire truck and crawl through the cab. The firemen also put on all of their gear and demonstrated how to use their mask to breath from their oxygen tank in case they needed to use it. In addition to their demonstrations, the fireman also talked with the students about how it was wrong and unsafe to hide from fireman and other rescue/emergency people.
A special thank you to the Cedar Springs Fire Department for taking time out of their day to demonstrate what they do. You are truly appreciated by the community for all the work and service that you provide.
