American Legion performs Veteran’s Day services

Veterans Memorial ParkCedar Springs American Legion Post #287 presided over two Veteran’s Day services last Thursday, November 11.
The first service was held at Veteran’s Memorial Park in honor of all veterans, with Commander Bill Gregones officiating. They dedicated a new flag pole, American Flag, and POW flag that they purchased for the park.
MetronThe second service was at Metron nursing home. They were accompanied by the Cedar Springs High School Marching Band, who played several songs. Many of the residents came out on the warm sunny day to listen to the service and pay their respects. Commander Gregones read Red Skelton’s essay on “I pledge allegiance” as part of the service. Many of the residents could be heard saying how wonderful the service was, and really seemed to enjoy it. Metron served refreshments afterward to both residents and guests.
