CTA Focuses on Character Education to “Make a Difference.”

Miss Burton’s 4th Grade with their Constitution

Creative Technologies Academy is a Charter Public School Academy that includes a determined focus on Character Education in our curriculum.  This year we began our school year with four days of Character Education activities and Ed Performance Testing.  We found that it was a splendid way to start the school year.  It gave teachers the opportunity to build relationships with students, students to build relationships with other students, and a time to emphasize rules/procedures and consistency in the classroom.  Each grade wrote a Class Constitution, which gave all students a say in what behaviors they would like, and not like in their classrooms.  Throughout the school year, we will be focusing on our six founding Character Traits:  Kindness, Respect, Responsibility, Getting Along, Work Ethic and Optimism.  Each month we are implementing one character trait school wide.  In September we focused on Kindness.  Students made a wall of kindness where they wrote down kind acts they observed by other students, and we implemented RAK (Random Acts of Kindness) WEEK.

Below is the High School Constitution and two Elementary School class constitutions.

We the students of Creative Technologies Academy hereby agree to  fulfill and acknowledge the Six Character Traits which include:  Respect, Responsibility, Optimism, Work Ethic, Getting Along and Kindness to keep our school safe, comfortable, diverse, fun and loved in order to maintain the CTA WAY.

Fourth Grade Constitution

We, the students of Miss Burton’s classroom, promise to treat people how we want to be treated.  We promise to be kind, respect others, have good listening skills, be truthful, and polite.  We also promise to use our manners all the time, even when no one is looking.
