Thomas E. Bliss, 88 of Cedar Springs, died Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Spectrum Health Blodgett Campus following a brief illness. Tom was born November 4, 1921 in Caseville, MI the son of Frank and Anna (Knaus) Bliss. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was a funeral director owning and operating Bliss Funeral Home in Cedar Springs from 1954-1981. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn (Seeley) whom he married on October 13, 1945; 3 children, Patrick J. Bliss of Las Vegas, NV; MaryAnn (Ted) DeVries of Kalamazoo, Peggy Helsel of Rockford; 2 grandchildren, Brenna Helsel and Eric DeVries; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, John, Leo and James; 2 sisters, Mary Boudeman and Elizabeth Bliss. The family received friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, www.blisswitterspike.com where a Scripture Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday 11:00 am at Mary Queen of Apostles, Sand Lake. Rev. Fr. Joseph W. Kenshol celebrant. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sand Lake.
