The JV Red Hawks continued their winning streak improving their record to 6-0. Although the team did not have their best performance of the year, they were able to hang on to a 14-11 victory over Comstock Park.
The Panthers came out and scored a field goal quickly in the first quarter. The Red Hawks answered with a touchdown taking the lead 6-3. The score remained unchanged until the fourth quarter, when the Red Hawks took it in for another touchdown, but the Panthers answered with one of their own, bringing the score to 14-11.
The JV then had to fight off a last minute attack by Comstock Park. The Panthers recovered a mishandled snap to the punter, on the Cedar Springs 5 yard line, with less than 1 minute left in the game. Having very little success running against Cedar most of the night, the Panthers went to the air for their final attack. Cedar snatched away any hope of victory Comstock had when Jake Benton intercepted the Comstock Park pass in the end zone and ran it out to the 40 yd line before being tackled. The Red Hawk offense took a knee and sealed the victory 14-11.
The JV Red Hawks travel to Belding tonight (Thursday) to take on the Redskins at 6:30 p.m.
