Cigarette bandit gets away with cash and smokes

The Greenville Department of Public Safety is looking for a man that robbed a gas station at knifepoint early Monday morning and got away with cigarettes and about $250 in cash.

According to Director Michael P. Stuck, a man dressed in all black and a black mask entered the Admiral Gas Station at 1305 W. Washington about 5:17 a.m. September 20, and placed a bag on the counter. He reportedly pulled a knife from his waistband and demanded that the clerk place all the money into the bag. He also demanded that two cartons of Newport cigarettes also be put into the bag.

He then fled the building and headed south on foot.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Obetts at (616) 754-9161.
