The Red Flannel Prince and Princess Contest will be held next week Wednesday, September 22, at the Kent Theatre, 8 N. Main Street. The contest is made up of some of Cedar Springs’ tiniest citizens—kindergartners! Come on out and cheer them on as the newest members of the Red Flannel royal family are chosen. It starts at 6:30 p.m., and admission is free.
The annual window decorating contest is on. If you have a business, show your Red Flannel spirit and you just might win a trophy! Schools are also welcome to join the contest. Judging and trophy presentations are next week.
Kids won’t want to miss out on the Read to Ride program. Cedar Springs Public Library is once again offering this great reading incentive for the month of September. “Read to ride” allows students in K-8th grade to read to earn one or two free coupons/tickets to ride the carnival rides during Red Flannel Friday and Saturday, Oct. 1 and 2.
If a student reads/or is read to for 3 hours, they can get one free coupon to ride a ride or get a free hotdog or popcorn. If they read 6 hours, they can earn two free coupons. Students can cash in their reading hours at the library on or before 6 p.m., Friday, October 1. Limit is two coupons per student. To get the special “Read to Ride Reading Log” students can pick one up at the Cedar Springs Public Library, or go online at cedarsprings.llcoop.org or at redflannelfestival.org.
