Muskegon State Park’s family football day Sept. 18

NFL punt, pass and kick and other activities to be held there

Muskegon State Park will host a “GO-Get Outdoors” fall family fun day beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Winter Sports Complex.

Scheduled for the day is a luge competition for two-, four- and six-person teams on the only wheeled luge track in North America.  A fee of $10 per person is charged to participate in this event and individuals must be at least eight years old to compete.

The Winter Sports Complex is an official location for the National Football League (NFL) Punt, Pass and Kick Competition. Individuals who wish to compete in this event should register on the NFL website: www.nflppk.com before arriving at the park. This competition is free.

All games and contests will end at 7:30 p.m. Visitors are then invited to watch MSU-Notre Dame football game and compete in the halftime 2.5K “Run Under the Lights.”

The luge will operate until 10 p.m. The Winter Sports Complex lodge will remain open until the end of the game and a variety of food and beverages will be available from 4 to10 p.m. for a nominal cost.

All motor vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must display a Motor Vehicle Permit, available for purchase at the entrance. Cost is $24 for resident annual and $6 for resident daily. A non-resident annual is $29 and a non-resident daily is $8.
