Trio arrested in irrigation wire thefts

Detectives with the Montcalm County Sheriff Department and Michigan State Police arrested three people last Wednesday morning, August 4, for stealing irrigation wire from a pivot in Home Township.

Billy Lee Lake, 31, of Edmore, Matthew Eric Hoaglin, 25, of Lakeview, and Candy Annete Cole, 31, of Greenville, were all charged with one count of felony larceny. Cole has not yet been arraigned, and Hoaglin remains in jail for outstanding warrants.

The prosecutor’s office continues to review the case, and may consider additional charges.

Detectives have been working on this case for several months, and continue to investigate other wire thefts in the area.
