Now you won’t have to travel far to venture through the flavors of micro brewed spirits, wine, vodka, whiskey, and not to be ignored, rum. New to the area, beer lovers may want to visit the Michigan Beer Cellar. All created within the 6,000 square foot brewery, the Humphrey family opened their doors to the public in June.
Dan Humprey’s master plan of opening his own brewery grew from the necessity of the times. A victim of downsizing, he’s taken the expertise of his years and experience and invested in his own enterprise.
Love of brewing garnered him over 100 awards, which gave him the courage to offer his recipes to the public by opening his own brewery. And you only have to go as far as Sparta. Located at 500 E. Division, right in downtown Sparta, you are invited to enjoy sampling and selecting from 12 different beers on tap. Wine lovers are welcome to try six local varieties. Offering a friendly atmosphere, the 4,500 square foot tavern features a long bar and slightly elevated dining area, where you can order food with your spirits. A jukebox and pool table complete the entertainment experience, while live music is on the agenda for patrons on weekends.
Humprey’s new business venture was recently featured in the Michigan Beer Guide Magazine. For more info on Michigan Beer Cellar, their menu and selections of beer, wine and mixed drinks, a listing of prices and a map to their location, check out, www.michiganbeercellar.com.
