Golfer gets hole-in-one at Kent Theater outing

Ten teams, 40 golfers, and a dozen volunteers had another beautiful day of great weather and lots of fun while raising money for the Kent Theatre last Saturday, July 10. And one of them even won the $10,000 hole-in-one.

The winning Team for the 10th Annual Kent Theatre Golf Outing held July 10 at Cedar Chase Golf Course. L to R: Stan Pelak, Frank Pelak, Jim O’Neil, and Rick Cunningham. Frank was also the hole-in-one winner.

The winning score was an 11 under par 61. The winning team this year was Stan Pelak, Frank Pelak, Jim O’Neil, and Rick Cunningham, representing Vanguard Business Service, of Grand Rapids. This is their fourth year in the Kent outing, and their second first place win.

Frank Pelak won the hole-in-one contest. He holed out his tee shot on the 8th hole at Cedar Chase Golf Club from 157 yards using a 5 iron.

The Hole-In-One Contest winner is paid the $10,000 by a insurance policy from Hole-In-One International. The policy is purchased each year by MCU Body in Cedar Springs. All of us at the Kent Theatre are very excited for Mr. Pelak and very thankful to Scott Knecht of MCU Body for his support of the Kent and our Golf Outing year after year.

The Hole-In-One was witnessed by Bryn Powell and her mom, Rose Powell, both of Cedar Springs. The pair have volunteered for years to be the required spotters for this event, and both have logged many hours watching futile attempts by hundreds and hundreds of golfers before witnessing Mr. Pelak’s successful swing.

“Everyone at the Kent Theatre would like to thank all of the participants, the volunteers, the Hole Sponsors, and The Cedar Chase Golf Club for the strong support of our Community Theatre,” said Len Allington, of the Kent.
