Turtle rescue

A turtle was in the middle of 22 Mile near Ritchie earlier this month, when some Sand Lake residents came to the rescue. Sara McCuaig, 11, a student at Sand Lake Elementary, her older sister, Jennifer Messick, and their grandmother, Shirley Pifer, stopped when they saw it. “It was a large snapper and we couldn’t pick it up,” noted Jennifer. But they made sure it got across the road safely. Way to go! A turtle pin and certificate will soon be on their way to you!
