More turtles!

Kimberly Harrison, of Sand Lake, discovered something exciting last week—a turtle nest  in her front yard!
“I saw a box turtle in my front yard, right outside my living room windows,” said Kim. “To my amazement and wonder, I discovered she was laying eggs.” Kim said that from the time she and her mother started watching the turtle and the time it finished laying, it was about an hour and a half. She wasn’t sure how long it  had been there before she saw it.
The funny thing is, she had seen the turtle before. “A couple of weeks ago when I was out working in the yard, I almost hit the same turtle with the mower. Thankfully, I saw her just in time, and took her across the road where there is a pond,” she explained.

The turtle has now crossed back over the road to the pond, and Kim said they will watch for the young ones to hatch, so they can help them get across safely as well.
