Mr. Lloyd Rowland, age 85 of Pierson, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2010. Lloyd was born in Sand Lake on the family farm and attended Huggard School through the 8th grade. He helped on the farm and did whatever was needed. After a loving courtship with Erma Gorby, they were married on August 22, 1947. Lloyd also had a love for farming and daily wore his blue-striped bib overalls. Lloyd was known for his work ethic and humorous nature. His family always came first. His children have many special memories growing up on the farm, wonderful conversation during meals and listening to Dad tell his stories. Besides his wonderful sense of humor, Lloyd loved to play cards (but by his rules). His son, Dale continues to farm on the family farm. Erma passed away on May 28, 1992. After a time, he and Crystal, a long-time family friend, became inseparable and enjoyed winters in Florida. Lloyd loved the color red and always seemed to own a red car and/or red truck. But when talking with Lloyd, he would often state that there was only one color – green, John Deere green. He is survived by his children, Bruce Rowland, Linda and Ed Koehn, Nancy Bassett and Scott Schafer, Dale Rowland, Amy Rowland; grandchildren, Sara Koehn, Aaron Koehn, Carrie and Toby McGillis, Nick Bassett; great-grandchildren, James McGillis, Betsy McGillis; loving companion, Crystal; Crystal’s family, Al and Pam Pike, Steve and Sandy Pike, and Darryl Pike and Diane Coughland, and their children; sister, Mrs. Erma Thompson; sister-in-law, Mrs. Bonnie Rowland; several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was also preceded in death by his grandson, Andrew Bassett, son-in-law, James Bassett, and brothers, Ken and Harold.
