The tennis team recently defeated Coopersville 5 to 3 in a dual last week Tuesday. The match was highlighted by solid wins in the singles by #1 Brooke Gust and #3 Britt Lenardson. The freshmen team of Paige Gebhardt and Samantha Alger, playing at #3 doubles defeated there opponents 6-4, 6-0 with some consistent play in the 2nd set. The fourth doubles team of Tranaya Palma and Amber Barnes dominated their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Amber Dunham and Jess Naffziger, at #1 doubles posted there 8th win of the season in a 6-2, 6-2 affair. Amber and Jess have been playing together since their freshmen year and compliment each other’s game. Amber has a keen sense at the net and is able to end points quickly with her agile volleys and dominating overhead smash. Jess is an accomplished backcourt player with a powerful and consistent serve. Both players know their limits and continually push them to improve as the season progresses. They, with the team, are looking to do well in the conference tourney in mid-May.
