Teachers surprised on teacher appreciation day

The teachers at Cedar Springs Public Schools received a nice surprise last week when the Cedar Springs Education Foundation gave each teacher a $25.00 gift card to a Grand Rapids-area bookstore in honor of Teacher Appreciation Day. The gift cards were a surprise gift to show the teachers how much they are valued and to honor their dedication and hard work on a day set aside for them.

“This gift is just another way the Education Foundation is working for the CS Public Schools,” said Elizabeth Marckini, of the Education Foundation. “The cards are intended as a small way to help the teachers in their classrooms.”

She said that 190 cards were distributed at a cost of $3,800, after a generous discount from the bookstore. “In this difficult economic climate, the Foundation remains committed to the community and continues to thrive thanks to the dedication of the fund trustees and the citizens of the Cedar Springs area,” said Marckini.

The Foundation is a non-profit fundraising fund established in 1986 to assist the Cedar Spring Public Schools in educating the students of the district. All donations are tax deductible and go directly into the classroom.    Questions or comments about the Foundation can be directed to Bill Tucker, President at 204 E. Muskegon, Cedar Springs, Mi. 49319.
