Dance team brings home trophies

Nineteen students from Dancing Plus in Cedar Springs competed in the Rainbow Connection Competition, Nature of Dance competition on May 1 and 2. They received trophies I the gold, high gold, and platinum categories. They also received nine trophies from first through eighth overall. A special trophy, Cutie Patootie, went to Zack Carlstrom and Olivia Esquivel performing a cute novelty jazz number to “Do you love me?” Five-year-old Gracie Lyons was chosen as the national mascot for Grand Rapids 2010. She will go to Wisconsin to compete in the regional competition in June.

Come out and support this talented group of dancers, who will perform at the Grand Rapids Arts Festival on Sunday, June 6, on the Circle Stage, from 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. They, along with 100 other dancers, will perform their annual show, this year entitled “Dance is…”, on June 5 at the Cedar Springs High School auditorium. Tickets will be available the door.
