On Tuesday, May 4, the women’s ministry team from the Solon Center Wesleyan Church delivered over 50 tote bags filled with personal care items to Alpha Family Center. The uniquely decorated bags were a result of “Healing Hands,” an event the ministry held on April 30, where over 40 women came together for an evening of finger foods, fellowship and fun decorating the totes. Friends from The Springs church and some wonderful volunteers from Alpha Family Center also joined efforts to accomplish the job. Each bag was filled with personal care items, age appropriate gifts for the children and a special treat for mom and kids.
Area businesses were asked to contribute funds to purchase the items used to fill the bags. “We’re very grateful to the local businesses and individuals whose generous donations made this possible,” says event organizer Annette DeGraaf. “Without their support, we would not have been able to make this happen.”
The bags will now be distributed by Alpha to families in crisis, including pregnant and new moms, moms with small children and moms of teenagers. “It has been a huge blessing for the women who participated in the event, knowing that their efforts will help someone in need and that through their hands, the love of Christ will shine,” said DeGraaf.
Alpha Family Center also offers a variety of services to women facing a crisis pregnancy including free pregnancy testing, earn while you learn programs, path to sexual healing support, miscarriage support, post-abortive support and youth abstinence programs.
