Outdoor burn causes grassfire

Post photo by L. Allen.

An outdoor burn pile got out of control last Wednesday, April 28, at Pine Ridge Bible Camp and spread into the woods.

The fire started at the camp, located on 17 Mile, near Pine Lake, in Nelson Township, at about 5:40 p.m. The Cedar Springs Fire Department responded to the call, and Spencer Fire assisted, while Courtland Fire was on standby.

Fuel tanks and a pole barn were nearby, but the fire was under control within 15 minutes and did not reach those exposures. A small utility trailer did burn, however.

The fire departments cleared the scene just after 7 p.m.
