Garnet G. Helsel

Mrs. Garnet G. Helsel, age 93, of Cedar Springs, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. She was a godly woman who loved her family dearly. Garnet was very happy when all the family was together. Mrs. Helsel with her quiet and humble ways had a lot of inner strength and was always willing to lend a helping hand.  She is survived by her children, Marilyn and George Arnold, Elmer Rex and Linda Helsel, Mrs. Carolyn Seaman; daughter-in-law, Robin and Ed Blair; 20 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 43 great-great grandchildren; brother and sisters, Jack and Ardath Bowers, Mrs. Jean Marlett; nieces and nephews; several in-laws. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burton on January 19, 2001, her daughter, Jacqueline, her sons, Eugene and Mervil and his wife, Ruth, sons-in-law, Jerry Brooms, Ronald Seaman, sister, Lila Woodhull and her husband, Ken, Gladys Collins, and her husband, Gerald, and her brother-in-law, Robert Marlett. The Service of Praise and Thanksgiving for Mrs. Helsel was held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Pederson Funeral Home with Pastor Doug DiBell officiating. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Grainger County Humane Society, PO Box 229, Rutledge, TN 37861. Relatives and friends met with the family on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
