Fun at the fairy princess tea

By Judy Reed

What girl hasn’t dreamed of being a princess? Area girls had the chance to live out that dream last Saturday, February 6, at the second Fairy Princess Tea parties put on by the Cedar Springs Public Library.

The library held two sessions, one with six girls and their moms, and another with five girls, their moms, and a grandmother.

The girls lined up and were “received” into the adult section of the library before taking their place at a table decorated with pretty tea cups, tablecloths and the ribbons and streamers for the wands they were going to make.

Miss Christine asked the girls their names and welcomed them before seating them, and Miss Donna presented them with their fairy wings. “We ordered them really beautiful wings and they loved that,” she said.

They heard a fairy story, and frosted their own heart-shaped cookies. Miss Maddie Hopkins helped serve the tea. The girls had their photos taken with their moms before leaving, and had the chance to check out a fairy book. Each girl also left with a special homemade heart-leafed flower made with a lollipop.

“I love doing this each year so my inner child can play princess and tea party,” said Miss Christine.
Miss Donna said this will become an annual February event.
