Youth wrestling season begins

_S-Youth-wrestlingMichigan Youth Wrestling pre-season has begun with tournaments that were held on December 6 at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant and Henry Ford High School in Detroit. A total of five Cedar Springs Youth wrestlers traveled to compete at these tournaments.

Connor Goike wrestled at the Falcon Kick Off in Detroit. He took third in the 10/11-year-old, 115lb division.

Logan Hull, Allexis Gonzales, Reese Gonzales, and George Gonzales Jr. went to CMU to compete at the Chippewa Challenge. Logan took third in the 7/8-year-old, 58b division.  Reese also took third in the 7/8-year-old, 58a division. George Jr. took first in the 9/10-year-old, 100lb division. Allexis was eliminated in the third round with a 1-2 record.

Wrestling season officially starts this weekend with a Open/Novice tournament being held on December 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Northview High School, for any one interested in watching.

The Cedar Springs Youth Wrestling Club is still accepting registration for any boy or girls, ages 4-15, who may want to join. Sign-ups and practices are held at Red Hawk Elementary on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 p.m..
