Olive Hurst

Olive O. Joslin Hurst passed away peacefully Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Lutheran Nursing Home in Westlake Ohio, where she had been a resident for 2 ½ years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 yrs., Edward J. Hurst; parents Clifford and Lavona (Stark) Joslin; and brother, Leon E. Joslin. She is survived by her children Sheila (Clyde) Jones, David Hurst, Mark (Leah) Hurst; granddaughter Angel Marie Hurst; Siblings Ella Mae (Maynard) Mosher, Harry (Sarah) Joslin, Elwyn (Goldie) Joslin, Orpha (Arlo-deceased) Nicholson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Olive was a 1943 graduate of Cedar Springs High School and 1947 graduate of Butterworth Hospital School of Nursing with her R.N. Degree. She worked at Butterworth Hospital until moving to Ohio where she worked at Cleveland’s St. Luke Hospital; obstetrics and as nursing supervisor. When Ed retired in 1980 they moved to Ft. Myers, FL. She continued her nursing career at Lee Memorial Hospital until 1998. Memorial service was held November 21 in Westlake, Ohio.
